Brisbane Safety Forum returns this February

Monday 19, Jan 2026

The NSCA Foundation will host its first in-person event of 2026, bringing together workplace health and safety leaders to explore how safety responsibilities extend beyond contracts and into organisational culture.

The Brisbane Safety Forum, scheduled for 18 February at the Department of Public Housing and Public Works Auditorium, will focus on the theme “Shared Safety: From Contract to Culture” – examining how safety obligations operate across contracting arrangements, labour hire, and everyday leadership decisions.

Bernie Doyle, President and CEO of the NSCA Foundation, said the forum addresses one of the most pressing challenges facing modern workplaces.

“Safety doesn’t stop at the signature on a contract. This forum brings together regulatory expertise, legal perspectives and practical insights to help organisations understand their shared duty obligations and build genuinely safer workplaces,” Mr Doyle said.

The full-day event will feature industry-leading experts delivering regulatory updates specific to Queensland’s WHS legislation and enforcement priorities, alongside practical sessions on contractor management, psychosocial risk and inclusive safety leadership.

Confirmed presenters include Alanna Ball, founder of Women in Safety; Jackson Inglis, partner at Sparke Helmore Lawyers; Nada Wentzel, Executive Director of Global Solutions at Jonah Group; Ben Carnell, Head of Client Solution at Sentis; and Dr Rebecca Michalak, Managing Director of PsychSafe.

A panel discussion on inclusive safety leadership and cultural change in WHS will explore how leadership behaviours and organisational culture influence psychological safety, with practical approaches to managing psychosocial risk and supporting worker voice.

The forum runs from 8:30am to 4:10pm and includes networking opportunities throughout the day, with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided.

Registrations close COB Monday, 16 February 2026. The cost is $280 for NSCA Foundation members and $390 for non-members.
