HOW TO TRACKLE UNSAFE BEHAVIOURS AT THEIR ROOTS—INSIGHTS ON THE THREE INDUCING FACTORS

One common belief in safety is this: “Since most accidents are caused by unsafe behaviours, let’s fix these behaviours and we can create a safe workplace.” What follows next are initiatives relating to training, incentives and enforcement.

The line of thought above is intuitive but flawed—while unsafe behavours directly cause accident, they don’t exist in a vacuum; there are reasons for these behaviours. While there are numerous reasons (why people do what they do), they fall into three categories: System, Culture and Attitude. Unless we can uncover and tackle these inducing factors, the unsafe behaviours will return.

This webinar will cover:

  • Relationship between the inducing factors and unsafe behaviours
  • Understanding the Flower model of Change
  • Two methods to diagnose for the inducing factors
  • Strategies to tackle the inducing factors
