Supporting the mental health of employees is an issue of growing importance. The evidence is clear that creating a mentally healthy workplace boosts productivity, reduces accidents, and improves employee engagement.
HSE Global’s Mental Fitness model takes a proactive and preventative approach to workplace mental health through reducing stigma, promoting psychological flexibility, and building resilience. The session will provide an overview of evidence based, best practice interventions for workplace mental health, practical application of the Mental Fitness 3 key actions and how to successfully implement sustainable outcomes.

Kara Wise, Director – Commercial Partnerships and Mental Wellbeing, HSE Global Kara has worked across Europe, Asia, Australia, NZ and the US, with a diverse range of organisations across all industry sectors including Government, Corrections, Emergency Services, Defence, Logistics, Finance, Child Care, Mining, Hospitality, Mental Health Organisations, Safety Authorities, and Insurance. A background in business strategy and analytics, she has more recently spent the last 15 years specilaising in supporting and enabling organisations in HSE&W strategic planning, ISO alignment, cognitive behavioural therapy, exposure-based safety, neuroscience, safety leadership, culture change, mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. She chaired the Global Thought Leadership Committee across Canada, UK and ANZ and is a former senior lecturer and convenor at Swinburne and Monash universities. She holds a Masters in Business from Monash University, post-graduate degree in Design Thinking, is accredited in MHFA and holds a Prime Ministers Award for Community Leadership.

Emma Boucher, Senior Psychologist Mental Health & Wellbeing, HSE Global Emma has spent over 20 years working in the mental health field working with individuals, groups and teams across small businesses, large corporations, government departments and educational institutions. Emma has a wealth of experience in providing EAP, CI response, RTW programs and staff training. Emma is a passionate advocate for mental health and is dedicated to assisting organisations to reduce stigma, promote early intervention and enhance recovery from mental illness. Emma has a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons), Post Graduate Diploma of Psychology, and Master of Human Nutrition, and Principal Master Mental Health First Aid Standard and Youth Instructor.
